May The World Be Peace
Why people rely on the teachings of Buddha?
Researched by- Myoma Myint Kywe ၿမိဳ ႔မ ျမင့္ၾကြယ္
“Hate is not conquered
by hate:
Hate is conquered
by love. This is eternal law.”
-
Buddha-
The
Buddhist emperor Ashoka (BC 304–BC 232) who,
himself a convert to Buddhism from Hinduism, advanced an idea of mutual respect
between the religions in which we probably see the earliest example of a
conception of religious toleration and respect. We know an unusual amount about
Ashoka’s ideas, because he carved them into stone pillars meant for public
consumption, and quite a few survive.
One
of India's greatest emperors, Ashoka emphasized that by
respecting people of other religions one did honor to one’s own; by insulting people of other religions one dishonored
one’s own. One must have love and respect
for one's own country, religion, literature, family, culture, nationality for
all in the same way. They love and respect to their country, their religion,
their literature, their family, their culture and their nationality.
There
are various religions as Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islam as in the
World. One must have love and respect for one's own country, religion,
literature, family, culture, nationality for all in the same way. They love and
respect to their country, their religion, their literature, their family, their
culture beliefs and their nationality.
There
are different kinds of countries, races, thoughts, such as Spanish/ Spain,
Chinese/China, Indian/India, Burmese/Burma, Thai/Thailand, English/England,
Japanese/Japan and American/U.S.A, etc.
There
are different kinds of believers
such as Hindu, Buddhist, Christian and Muslim. Everybody
must not insult to other religions.
These
factors were very important of the World and everyone. It must not be
neglected. It must not be insulted. We should show respect to other. The way is
not in the sky. The way is in the heart.
We
need to demonstrate respect for each other and for relationships, not for power
and control. We need to win other’s respect, not try to demand or force it. By
force respect might bring compliance but it doesn’t build true respect for each
other. All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. All
human beings are equal in dignity and rights. We should appreciate others as
much as we can. But the essential factor is not races, religions, caste systems.
Honesty, diligence, character, unity, patience, justice, optimism, forgiveness,
love, mercy, peace, open-minded, sacrifice, humility, moral ethics, etc were
more important above all.
One must be able to one self analyze. Each and every one of us should follow and live according to the teachings of one's own religion. The one who doesn't respect others culture and religion does not respect his own. The one who respects another's culture and religion respects his own.
The
right to practice one’s own culture, language and religion applies to everyone.
All
the teachings concerning culture, thoughts, opinion, beliefs and practices are
valuable in their own ways. The important factor is that the follower of the
concerned religion must follow the teachings sincerely. Although I, myself a Theravada Buddhist, I obey the
teachings of Lord Buddha.
Therefore, Buddhism is the only truth for me, the
only religion for me. To my Christian friend, Christianity is the only truth
for him, the only religion for him. Hindu friend, Hinduism is the only truth for
him, the only religion for him. To my Muslim friend, Islam is the only truth
for him, the only religion for him. I appreciate the teachings of other
religions and the appreciation of other nationalities and their culture are all
noble and valuable in their own way.
So
we ought also to love one another.
There
cannot be 100% similarities among religions, nationalities, any opinions,
cultures, philosophies, skin hues, mental attitudes, sex, language, political,
social origin, property, visions of people in the World. There would be more
beneficence from performance of seeing with love and sympathetic mind (with
optimistic view) for a particular thing rather than blaming or extreme
criticize (with a pessimistic view) in contrast to others. Look
on the bright side, please.
Now
love to these should be kind, tender, and affectionate, reciprocal and mutual;
such should love one another; there should be no love wanting on either side;
and it ought to be universal, and reach to all the saints, though of different
gifts, light, knowledge and experience, or whether high or low, rich or poor;
and should show itself by bearing one another's burdens, bearing with, and
forbearing each other, forgiving one another, and by edifying one another in
their most holy faith, and praying with, and for one another.
“Every cloud has a silver lining” means that you
should never feel hopeless because difficult times always lead to better days.
Difficult times are like dark clouds that pass overhead and block the sun. When
we look more closely at the edges of every cloud we can see the sun shining
there like a silver lining. Every cloud has a silver lining means that the sun
shining at the edges of every cloud reminds us that every difficult situation
has a bright side. “Look
on the bright side”, please.
Pessimistic
people are more likely to be depressed, fail, be poor achievers, have poor
health (especially as we age) and suffer electoral defeat! Optimists handle
stress better, bounce back from setbacks more quickly, have better health, sell
more, achieve more and are more creative - among many other things!
The
English culture is best for the English, while
the Burmese culture is good for the Burmese. The Indian culture is also best
for the Indian people,
while
the Chinese culture is good for the Chinese people.
Likewise,
Christians must obey the teachings of the Bible,
Buddhists
must obey the teachings of Buddha,
Hindus
must obey the teachings of the Hinduism and
Muslims
must obey the teachings of Quran.
Love
and forgiveness are most famous of Buddhism. Forgiving someone can be
difficult. Why do we need to forgive others? How can we forgive a person? The
teachings of Buddha can provide us with answers, inspiration and good
direction. Then the Bible can provide us with answers, inspiration and good
direction.
Actually,
forgiveness is not only about others, but also about our own spiritual growth.
Love and forgiveness cannot be separated. Then, mercy and forgiveness are
direct manifestations of true love in any human being. All human beings are
capable of mercy and forgiveness. More even, mercy and forgiveness, a full
pardon toward all, is the easiest, fastest and most relieving act you can
commit.
There
are a lot of people out there that have had hard lives, bad beginnings
(moments). Forgive those who have done you wrong. Most importantly, though,
forgive yourself. To forgive others and to be forgiven ourselves is quite a
challenging experience! Yet, this is essential
for the repairing of any loving relationship. Once we have the ability to
forgive others, or forgive ourselves, we are on the way to once again exist in
that reality of love - the meaning of life.
We
need to offer forgiveness if we do harm. We need to take that most challenging
step to begin the process of recovery, the process of reconciliation. When we
offer forgiveness the person who has been hurt has the opportunity to begin the
process of returning to love. We need to accept the offer as soon as possible
and work towards repairing the relationship. We often need to forgive ourselves.
This can be quite difficult. We need to learn to accept our own forgiveness and
move on, just as we do when accepting forgiveness from others or when we offer
others forgiveness.
“To
let bygones be bygones” means to forgive another person and have them forgive
you for whatever hurts you may have caused each other. Then, allow the
unpleasant things that have happened in the past to be forgotten. (Let bygones
be bygones: Forgive someone for something he (or) she did in
the
past and something that you say in order to tell someone to forget about
unpleasant things (bad-things) that have happened in the past).
Kamma (Karma) is the
Universal Law of Truth
Karma
is the executed "deed", "work", "action", or
"act". In contrast, samskara (Sankhara) are always those invisible
effect are produced cause of the doer’s action because of the karma, thus
transforming the agent and make effect his or her ability to be happy or
unhappy in this life as well as in future lives. An important idea in this
context is the belief shared by Buddhism in the natural cosmic law of cause and
effect, popularly known as “Kamma” (Karma). For thousands of years, the law of
cause and effect guided scientific inquiry. “Karma” (or) “Kamma” is the
universal law of cause and effect. Sowing and reaping is a main law of the
Buddhist world.
It
is more than just an agricultural principle. It is an axiom of life that “we
reap in kind to what we sow”. The Bible, Galatians 6:7 says, “Do not be
deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” There are natural
consequences to our actions. The world operates under the law of cause and
effect. There is no way around it: every time we choose an action, we also
choose the as a result of that action. Scientifically, every action does have
an equal and opposite reaction, and so any action that we commit would have an
equal and opposite reaction in some capacity to keep the universal equilibrium.
Karma
is the great law of "cause and effect",
of "action and reaction", which
controls the destiny of all living entities. This great law functions on the
principle, that any action performed produces an equal and opposite reaction,
which directly influences our very existence. Buddhists believe that the
totality of one’s actions and the results of those actions determine one’s fate
in coming rebirth. In Buddhism, this process is called kamma. ‘Kamma is action
or do,’ says the Buddha. In its ultimate sense, kamma means both good and bad,
mental action or physical action.
Sir Isaac Newton said 'for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction'. Newton
stated this in his Third Law of Motion. This is much like Karma of
Buddhism. Lord Buddha realised more than 2,600 years ago in a
greater depth than those before Him.
In
Buddhism the belief that everything is a result of acts in previous lives.
Since
kamma is an invisible force, we cannot see it working with our physical eyes.
The working of kamma can also be compared to a Newton’s third law who is
virtuous, charitable and benevolent in his present life is like a person who is
adding to his good kamma. This accrued good kamma can be used by him to ensure
a trouble-free life. The Buddha says, 'There is no place to hide in order to
escape from kammic results.' (Dhammapada 127).
Karma,
like time and gravity, is a universal principle and everyone is effected by its
influence. While the law of physics applies to the interaction of material
objects only, the law of karma however, applies to any action performed by
living entities and governs the interrelations of all living beings. The state
laws for example, are grossly observed; but the law of material nature (karma)
being subtle to our gross understanding, cannot be experienced grossly or
understood by mental speculation.

Conquer arrogance by humility
Conquer war by peace
Conquer enemy by forgiveness
Conquer the liar by truth.
The
mind is almost always impure, and it almost always brings in bad thoughts. Even
when it is not doing this, the mind is still a victim to doubt, jealousy,
hypocrisy, fear and other unholy
qualities. Meditation can be said to purify the mind by making it easier to
develop generosity and compassion, and then to finally acquire wisdom. Meditation can be said to be the highest
form of Buddhist practice as the Buddha himself attained enlightenment through
meditation.
Hence,
it is evident that all the religions of the world bestow upon us the way to
success, prosperity and happiness. In my opinion, if all of us sincerely obey
the teachings accordingly, the World would be a happy place to live.
There are different kinds of countries, races, thoughts, such as Spanish/ Spain, Chinese/China, Indian/India, Burmese/Burma, Thai/Thailand, English/England, Japanese/Japan and American/U.S.A, etc.
There
are different kinds of believers such as Hindu, Buddhist, Christian and Muslim.
Everybody must not insult to other religions. These factors were very important
of the World and everyone. It must not be neglected. It must not be insulted.
We should show respect to other.
I
got some questions about God and His creation recently. Many scholars
frequently asked questions about God and his creationism. If God who knows
everything including the future, why did God create Lucifer?
That
means that when He created Lucifer, He knew that Lucifer would become Satan
and cause all kinds of terrible problems for human beings. There is no escaping
this conclusion: God is ultimately responsible for Satan's evil. Maybe
God does allow Satan to evil exercise through his power as well.
Genesis 1:1 in the Bible says that “In the beginning God created the
heavens and the earth”.
Genesis 1:25 in the Bible says that “God made the wild animals
according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the
creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that
it was good”.
Genesis 1:27 in the Bible says that “So God created mankind in his
own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created
them”.
John 1:3 in the Bible says that “God created everything through
him, and nothing was created except through him”.
Colossians 1:16 in the Bible says that “For in him all
things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been
created through him and for him”.
Many
senior researchers had no idea about God. They suspected about God's plan for
people. If God is sovereign, is he responsible for evil? God is responsible for
good and evil in the world.
Does God know what he is going to do before he does it?
If
God knows the future with infallible certainty, it would seem that he is
powerless to change it. If he does not know it, does he know what he is going
to do before he does it? How did the creation of
Satan come to pass?
People
look at the world around them and they see a lot wrong with it. Babies are born
with birth defects. (A birth defect is a problem that happens while a baby is
developing in the mother's body. Most birth defects happen during the first 3
months of pregnancy). People die tragically of Cancer,
Leukemia, Leprosy, Ebola virus, AIDS/ HIV
and a variety of genetic diseases over which God had no control.
Earthquakes kill many thousands of innocent people.
Floods kill many thousands of innocent people. Humans battle depression,
loneliness, all kinds of mental illnesses and disorders. Our world has faced
many types of natural disaster including tsunamis, cyclone that obliterate our
best defense measures, volcano eruptions that have killed millions, earthquakes
that have tremble the worlds base line, tornadoes that have become the cause of
destruction of billions in value and millions in lives and diseases that have
caused the extinction of human race in many areas.
Many
people in the world are suffering from natural disaster types such as floods,
storms, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, drought etc and insect infestations, any
crisis, First World War (began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November
1918) and Second World War (from 1939 to 1945), etc the list is endless.
Why does God allow such as chemical, biological, radiological,
and nuclear weapons if God created everything good and with a good purpose? Why
does God allow wars, evil and suffering to continue?
The
total number of military and civilian casualties in First World War was
over 37 million. There were over 16 million deaths and 20 million wounded
ranking it among the deadliest conflicts in human history. The total number of
deaths includes about 10 million military personnel and about 7 million
civilians. Officially, roughly 8.7 million Soviet soldiers died in the
course of the war. Second World War was the deadliest military conflict
in history. Over 60 million people were killed, which was over 2.5% of
the world population.
Why did God not save these innocent people?
Why Does God Let Innocent People
Suffer?
Why does God allow innocent people
to suffer?
Why does God allow CRUSADES religious war?
How can a good God allow evil in the world?
Satan does. Why did God create the
Satan?
All creations come from GOD, consist all evil is also came creation from God.
Because
he created Satan and could stop Satan but he doesn't. If Satan has some or most
responsibility for evil, GOD is just as guilty as the devil because God created
Satan and does not stop by him.
If
God is all knowing, he knew that evil was a direct result of Free will. God
gave humans the ability to decide right from wrong, meaning that he allows sin.
Human beings are not all knowing, therefore, we will sin and commit evil
because we are not all perfect and good by nature.
So,
if God created us to have free will by nature, and we can freely choose evil,
then isn't God responsible for evil in this world? If he wanted us to be all
good, he will arrange all good around us.
When God created us, he didn't make us PAWNS in some cosmic
CHESS game. We're not his toy soldiers. God gives us freedom of choice.
Does
God really exist? How can we know?
If
God created everything, but who created God?
Why does God allow innocent people to suffer?
Why Bible does Isaiah
45:7 say that I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create
evil: I the Lord do all these
things. God created evil? God is responsible
for evil in this world? There is no doubt about that….either indirectly
or directly.
Why
Bible
does Deuteronomy
32:39-42
say that God killed people with his sword and
arrows?
God killed people so much in the Bible. Some historians
counted the number of people 2,038,344
were killed by God in the Old Testament?
Why
Bible does Numbers 16:49 say that Now
they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside
them that died about the matter of Korah. God
killed people?
Why Bible
does 2 Samuel 24:15-25 say that God
killed 70,000 people?
If
God loves human kind, why did he order the death of many people in the Old
Testament?
If
God created everything good and with a good purpose, why are there
disease-causing bacteria and viruses in the world? If God never
created anything, then nothing would happen.
Why
God killed the people?
Why did God make viruses?
Why does God allow wars in
the world?
Why does God allow non-believers
in God?
Why did God create HIV/AIDS?
Why did God create Satan
so powerful?
Why
did
God create Satan?
Who
is more responsible for evil (GOD or Satan)?
Why
does God create ugly people?
Why does God allow wicked
minded?
Why does God allow sickness?
Why does God allow earthquakes
and floods?
Why does God allow terrorism
and violence?
Why can't God create us equally attractive?
Why
can't God create us good thing only?
They
believe that the way is not in the sky. The way is in the heart.
But, The Bible says that God is holy,
without sin, and altogether good. As such, he can’t be in the
presence of sin, and as a just God, must judge sin and sinners (Leviticus
11:44; Isaiah 6:3; 1 Peter 1:15–16).
Some
people also said "God made the world and us as good. God is Holy."
Scripture
says that when God finished His creation, He saw everything and declared it
"very good" (Genesis 1:31). Many Scriptures affirm that God is
not the author of evil: "God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself
does not tempt anyone" (James 1:13). "God is light, and in Him
there is no darkness at all" (1 John 1:5). "God is not the
author of confusion" (1 Corinthians 14:33)-and if that is true, He
cannot in any way be the author of evil.
Occasionally
western historians will quote Isaiah 45:7 and claim it proves God
made evil as a part of His creation: "I form the light, and create
darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I, the Lord, do all these things.
Why does Isaiah 45:7 say that God created evil?
God
is capable of preventing evil, and God desires to save the universe of evil.
So, if both of these are true, why does God allow evil in the world? If God has
the super power to prevent evil and desires to prevent evil, why does he still
allow evil?
Was Abraham, David Solomon condemned or approved for practicing polygamy in the Bible?
Well
they certainly did not get blessed for it! In fact every polygamist in the
Bible like David and Solomon (1 Chronicles 14:3) were punished. This
should be evidence that this is not God’s will.
1 Kings 11:3 The Bible says Solomon had 700 (seven
hundred) wives of royal birth and 300 (three hundred) concubines, and his wives led him
astray.
Consider
that Solomon at one time was the wisest man in the world and fell to this state
is an example of mans constant need for God. Notice Solomon became a
polytheist because he was influenced in polygamy.
Why
People respect Jesus Christ?
Many
scholars
said that Jesus Christ did not kill the people in the Bible. They respected him
so much. Then, he is a great peacemaker.
The
love of Christ is a central element of Christian belief and theology. It refers
both to the love of Jesus Christ for humanity, and to the love of Christians
for Christ.
Luke 6:27-29
27 “But to you who are
listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless
those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If
someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes
your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them.
The
Golden Rule (Luke 6:31-35)
31 Do to others as you
would have them do to you.
32 “If you love those
who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love
them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what
credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. 34 And if you lend
to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even
sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But
love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get
anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the
Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.
The
Golden Rule, spoken by Jesus Christ, is possibly the best known quote from the
Bible, and contains a lot of wisdom in one short sentence. If we wish to be
loved, we must first give love. If we wish to be respected, we must respect all
persons, even those we despise. If we wish to be fulfilled in our lives, we
must share generously with others.
Many
people accept Jesus Christ's sacrifice as essential to their salvation.
As their model their lives after his, and follow him.
All
sin is forgiven upon repentance and the acceptance of Christ's sacrifice.
Forgiveness of sin requires the supreme sacrifice—the death of Jesus Christ.
His crucifixion almost 2,000 years ago was essential to God's plan of
redemption and salvation.
Ephesians 6:1-24
Children,
obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and
mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well
with you and that you may live long in the land.” Fathers, do not provoke your
children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the
Lord. Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere
heart, as you would Christ,
Galatians 6:7
Do
not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also
reap.
John
13:1-17 The Bible said:
Jesus
Washes His Disciples’ Feet
13 It
was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for
him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in
the world, he loved them to the end.
2 The evening meal was
in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon
Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put
all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to
God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing,
and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5 After that, he poured
water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the
towel that was wrapped around him.
6 He came to Simon
Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”
7 Jesus replied, “You
do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
8 “No,” said Peter,
“you shall never wash my feet.”
Jesus
answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”
9 “Then, Lord,” Simon
Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!”
10 Jesus answered,
“Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is
clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.” 11 For
he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not everyone was
clean.
12 When he had finished
washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you
understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You
call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now
that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one
another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do
as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is
greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now
that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
Through
his sacrifice, Jesus Christ took the ultimate penalty of sin—death—upon
himself, freeing human, if people accept his sacrifice in continuing
repentance, from death being people final fate . And by giving of himself in
life to care for others and finally through the agonizing torment he
experienced at the end, Jesus Christ also bore the other consequences of
sin—pain and suffering.
Why
people rely on the teachings of Buddha?
Buddhism Has No God
The
Lord Buddha was born in 623 B.C. in a
country called Kapilavatthu in Nepal. Three
important events in the life of Buddha are believed to have
occurred on this day: his birth in 623 BC, his gaining enlightenment in 588 BC,
and he entered Parinirvana in 543 BC (the complete extinction of his self at
the age of 80).
1.
Buddhism has no almighty creator God.
2.
Buddhism has no punishment system.
3.
Buddhism has no savior.
4.
Buddhism has no judgement day.
5.
Buddhism has no holy war.
6.
Buddhism has no violence.
Essentially,
according to Buddhist teachings, the ethical and moral principles are governed
by examining whether a certain action, whether connected to body or speech is
likely to be harmful to one's self or to others and thereby avoiding any
actions which are likely to be harmful.
In
Buddhism, there is much talk of a skilled mind. A mind that is skilful avoids
actions that are likely to cause suffering or remorse. Buddha has always
advocated a peaceful and non-violent solution.
One
is strictly forbidden to kill another person in the name of religion, a
religious leader or whatsoever religious pretext or worldly excuse.
All
people want to live a safe, healthy, and happy life. How do we proceed toward
this ideal? The Buddha provided us with five precepts to guide us on our way to
individual liberation. We are to abstain from killing, stealing, sexual
misconduct, lying, and taking intoxicants. Not just for Buddhists, these
precepts are basic to the major spiritual traditions and ethical teachings in
our world today.
According
to Buddhism mercy killing cannot be justified. Mercy and killing can never
go together. Some people kill their pets on the grounds that they do not
like to see the pets suffer. However, if mercy killing is the correct method to
be practiced on pets and other animals, then why are people so reluctant to do
the same to their beloved ones?
When
some people see their dogs or cats suffer from some skin disease, they arrange
to kill those poor animals. They call this action, mercy killing.
Actually
it is not that they have mercy towards those animals, but they kill them for
their own precaution and to get rid of an awful sight. And even if they do have
real mercy towards a suffering animal, they still have no right to take away
its life. No matter how sincere one may be, mercy killing is not the correct
approach. The consequences of this killing, however, are different from killing
with hatred towards the animal. Buddhists have no grounds to say that any kind
of killing is justified. The Buddha has advised everyone to abstain from
killing.
The
first precept is to refrain from killing living beings. This precept In
Buddhism, not killing is the reverence for all life and is founded on
compassion. All animals fear death and experience pain when hurt. This
includes human beings and all animal life, including insects. This refers to
killing or destroying, but it can also mean injuring or torturing to other.
Karma (kamma) means action,
work or deed;
it also refers to the principle of causality where intent and actions of an
individual influence the future of that individual. Good intent and good
deed contribute to good karma and future happiness, while bad intent and bad
deed contribute to bad karma and future suffering. It is a main key concept in Buddhism.
Karma
is the law of moral causation. The theory of Karma is a fundamental
doctrine in Buddhism. This belief was prevalent in India before the advent of
the Buddha. Nevertheless, it was the Buddha who explained and formulated this
doctrine in the complete form in which we have it today.
According
to Buddhism, this inequality is due not only to heredity, environment,
"nature and nurture", but also to Karma. In other words, it is the
result of our own past actions and our own present doings. We ourselves are
responsible for our own happiness and misery. We
create our own Heaven. We create our own Hell. We are the architects of our own
fate.
While
Buddhism is not self-surrender or total reliance on an ‘external force’ or
third party for help or salvation, non-Buddhism takes the opposite position.
Metta (Loving Kindness) and Karuna (Compassion)
to all living beings, including animals. Buddhism strictly forbids animal
sacrifice for whatever reason.
The
popular appeal of Buddhism today is one of the coolness, tolerance, and peace.
Buddhism in effect teaches you can save yourself by the noble eight
fold path, and enduring through a cycle of re-births to eventually reach
nirvana.
Taking
refuge in The Triple Gems in Buddhism is the Buddha, the Dharma (the teachings
of Buddha) and the Sangha (most commonly refers in Buddhism to the monastic
community of ordained Buddhist monks or nuns). Then, all Buddhist does not
total reliance on an external force or third party for help or salvation.
All
Buddhist believe that Buddha is a greatest teacher of all living beings and
gods. He is neither the creator nor the prophet of an almighty God to
transmit such teachings to others. Buddha is not a savior who saves others by
his personal salvation.
Although
a Buddhist seeks refuge in the Buddha as his incomparable guide who indicates
the path of purity, he makes no servile surrender. A Buddhist does not think
that he can gain purity merely by seeking refuge in the Buddha or by mere faith
in Him. It is not within the power of a Buddha to wash away the impurities of
others.
But
we need to demonstrate respect for each other and for relationships, not for
power and control. We need to win other’s respect, not try to demand or force
it. By force respect might bring compliance but it doesn’t build true respect
for each other. All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
All human beings are equal in dignity and rights.
We
should appreciate others as much as we can. But the essential factor is not
races, religions, caste systems. Honesty, diligence, character, unity,
patience, justice, optimism, forgiveness, love, mercy, peace, open-minded,
sacrifice, humility, moral ethics, etc were more important above all.
Therefore,
many people believe that teaching of Buddha is the only truth for Buddhists,
the only religion for Buddhists. Christianity is the only truth for Christians,
the only religion for them. Hinduism is the only truth for Hindus, the only
religion for them. Islam is the only truth for Muslims, the only religion for
them.
Although
myself a Theravada Buddhist, we obey the teachings of Lord Buddha. But we do
respect to other religions, nationalities and their culture are also valuable
in their own way. So we ought also to love one another mutually.
“Hate is not conquered by hate:
Hate is conquered by love. This is
eternal law.”
- Buddha-
Peace
and Happiness and Buddhism
Most
people want to live a safe, healthy, and happy life. How do we proceed toward
this ideal? The Buddha provided us with five precepts to guide us on our way to
individual liberation. We are to abstain from killing, stealing, sexual
misconduct, lying, and taking intoxicants. Not just for Buddhists, these
precepts are basic to the major spiritual traditions and ethical teachings in
our world today.
Love (Metta) and forgiveness are most famous of Buddhism.
Forgiving someone can be difficult. Why do we need to forgive others? How can
we forgive a person? The teachings of Buddha can provide us with answers,
inspiration and good direction. Then the Bible can provide us with answers,
inspiration and good direction.
Buddhism
is the most peaceful religion. Buddhism perhaps has the best record of all
religions for non-violence. They have never supported and took part in any wars
in world history. Buddhists have a long history of refusing to take part in
religious wars and world war.
Almost
Buddhists are pacifists of various types. Buddha did not
allow for kill to every living human being.
The
Buddha did, in one of His precepts, advise His followers of refrain from
committing adultery or sexual misconduct. So, adultery or sexual misconduct or polygamy
is not practiced in Myanmar (Burma), especially Buddhist people. Almost
Buddhist people accept themselves totally monogamy system. Monogamy is a
form of relationship in which an individual has only one partner during their
lifetime. Polygamy, "marriage to many spouses" or "frequent
marriage" is a marriage that includes more than two partners.
Actually,
forgiveness is not only about others, but also about our own spiritual growth. Love
and forgiveness cannot be separated. Then, mercy and forgiveness are direct
manifestations of true love in any human being. All human beings are capable of
mercy and forgiveness. More even, mercy and forgiveness, a full pardon toward
all, is the easiest, fastest and most relieving act you can commit.
There
are a lot of people out there that have had hard lives, bad beginnings
(moments). Forgive those who have done you wrong. Most importantly, though,
forgive yourself. To forgive others and to be forgiven ourselves is quite a
challenging experience! Yet, this is essential for the repairing of any loving
relationship. Once we have the ability to forgive others, or forgive ourselves,
we are on the way to once again exist in that reality of love - the meaning of
life.
We
need to offer forgiveness if we do harm. We need to take that most challenging step
to begin the process of recovery, the process of reconciliation. When we offer
forgiveness the person who has been hurt has the opportunity to begin the process
of returning to love. We need to accept the offer as soon as possible and work
towards repairing the relationship. We often need to forgive ourselves. This
can be quite difficult. We need to learn to accept our own forgiveness and move
on, just as we do when accepting forgiveness from others or when we offer
others forgiveness.
“To let bygones be bygones” means to forgive
another person and have them forgive you for whatever hurts you may have caused
each other. Then, allow the unpleasant things that have happened in the past to
be forgotten. (Let bygones be bygones: Forgive someone for something he (or)
she did in
the
past and something that you say in order to tell someone to forget about
unpleasant things (bad-things) that have happened in the past).
The
Buddhist emperor Ashoka (BC 304–BC 232) who, himself
a convert to Buddhism from Hinduism, advanced an idea of mutual respect between
the religions in which we probably see the earliest example of a conception of
religious toleration and respect. We know an unusual amount about Ashoka’s
ideas, because he carved them into stone pillars meant for public consumption,
and quite a few survive.
One
of India's greatest emperors, Ashoka emphasized that by respecting people of
other religions one did honor to one’s own; by insulting people of other religions
one dishonored one’s own. One must have love and respect for one's own country,
religion, literature, family, culture, nationality for all in the same way.
They love and respect to their country, their religion, their literature, their
family, their culture and their nationality.
There
are various religions as Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islam as in the
World. One must have love and respect for one's own country, religion,
literature, family, culture, nationality for all in the same way. They love and
respect to their country, their religion, their literature, their family,
their
culture beliefs and their nationality.
All
the teachings concerning culture, thoughts, opinion, beliefs and practices are
valuable in their own ways. The important factor is that the follower of the
concerned religion must follow the teachings sincerely.
One
must be able to one self analyze. Each and every one of us should follow and
live according to the teachings of one's own religion. The one who doesn't respect
others culture and religion does not respect his own. The one who respects
another's culture and religion respects his own.
The
right to practice one’s own culture, language and religion applies to everyone.
There
cannot be 100% similarities among religions, nationalities, any opinions,
cultures, philosophies, skin hues, mental attitudes, sex, language, political,
social origin, property, visions of people in the World. There would be more
beneficence from performance of seeing with love and sympathetic mind along
with optimistic view for a particular thing rather than blaming or extreme
criticize along with a pessimistic view in contrast to others. Look on the bright side, please.
Now
love to these should be kind, tender, and affectionate, reciprocal and mutual;
such should love one another; there should be no love wanting on either side;
and it ought to be universal, and reach to all the saints, though of different
gifts, light, knowledge and experience, or whether high or low, rich or poor;
and should show itself by bearing one another's burdens, bearing with, and
forbearing each other, forgiving one another, and by edifying one another in
their most holy faith, and praying with, and for one another.
“Look on the bright side”,
please.
Pessimistic
people
are more likely to be depressed, fail, be poor achievers, have poor
health and suffer electoral defeat! Optimists handle stress
better, bounce back from setbacks more quickly, have better health, sell more,
achieve more and are more creative - among many other things!
Buddhism is neither
pessimistic nor optimistic but a realistic religion stand on truth.
The
English culture is best for the English, while the Burmese culture is good for
the Burmese. The Indian culture is also best for the Indian people,
while
the Chinese culture is good for the Chinese people. Likewise, Christians
must obey the teachings of the Bible, Buddhists must obey the
teachings
of Buddha, Hindus must obey the teachings of the Hinduism and Muslims
must obey the teachings of Quran.
Kamma is the Universal Law
of Truth
Karma
is the executed "deed", "work", "action", or
"act". In contrast, samskara (Sankhara) are
always those invisible effect are produced cause of the doer’s action because
of the karma, thus transforming the agent and make effect his or her ability to
be happy or unhappy in this life as well as in future lives. An important idea
in this context is the belief shared by Buddhism in the natural cosmic law of
cause and effect, popularly known as “Kamma” (Karma). For thousands of years,
the law of cause and effect guided scientific inquiry.
“Karma” (or) “Kamma” is the universal law of cause and effect.
Sowing and reaping is a main law of the Buddhist world.
It
is more than just an agricultural principle. It is an axiom of life that “we
reap in kind to what we sow”.
The
Bible, Galatians 6:7 says, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man
reaps what he sows.” There are natural consequences to our actions. The
world operates under the law of cause and effect. There is no way around it: every
time we choose an action, we also choose the as a result of that action.
Scientifically, every action does have an equal and opposite reaction, and so
any action that we commit would have an equal and opposite reaction in some
capacity to keep the universal equilibrium.
"Karma" is the great law of "cause and effect", of "action and
reaction", which controls the destiny of all living entities. This
great law functions on the principle, that any action performed produces an
equal and opposite reaction, which directly influences our very existence.
Buddhists believe that the totality of one’s actions and the results of those
actions determine one’s fate in coming rebirth. In Buddhism, this process is
called kamma. ‘Kamma is action or do,’ says the Buddha. In its ultimate sense,
kamma means both good and bad, mental action or physical action.
Isaac Newton said 'for every action there
is an equal and opposite reaction'. Newton stated this in his Third Law
of Motion. This is much like Karma of
Buddhism. Lord Buddha realised more than
2,600 years ago in a greater depth than those before Him.
In
Buddhism the belief that everything is a result of acts in previous lives.
Since
kamma is an invisible force, we cannot see it working with our physical eyes.
The working of kamma can also be compared to a Newton’s third law who is
virtuous, charitable and benevolent in his present life is like a person
who is adding to his good kamma. This accrued good kamma can be used by
him to ensure a trouble-free life.
The Buddha says, “There is no place to hide in order to escape
from kammic results.”
-(Dhammapada
127).
Karma,
like time and gravity, is a universal principle and everyone is effected by its
Lord
Buddha says: “Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful.”
May
All Beings Be Well, Secure & Happy!
